Watford are a Premier League club based in Hertfordshire to the north of London. Known as The Hornets because of their yellow and black strip, they play their home matches at Vicarage Road.
Founded in 1898, Watford did not join the Football League until 1920. They spend much of the first part of its existence in the lower reaches of the leagues. However, under manager Graham Taylor – who went on to manage England and Aston Villa – they club rose from the Fourth to the First Division, finishing second in the 1982 – 1983 season, their highest ever league position. The following year they reached the FA Cup Final, only to lose to Everton.
The club has a close association with the pop singer Sir Elton John. A lifelong supporter, he owned the club for a number of years, and is now honorary life president.
In terms of Watford tips, this isn’t a team favorite to feature for the title or hunt for European places. Owned by the wealthy Pozzi family – who also own Serie A side Udinese and Spanish team Granada – they operate with a bigger budget than some of the other teams that they compete with in the mid-reaches of the table.
However, one Watford betting tip that may be worth considering is who their next manager will be. The club had 13 managers in the past decade, it’s safe to say that a Watford prediction might be that.
