Eibar are a La Liga side based in the Basque region of Spain. Nicknamed Los Armeros (the Gunsmiths) they play their home games at the Ipurau Municipal Stadium. Their traditional kit is blue and red striped shirts, and blue shorts.
The team has a distinct fan-based ownership, with more than 10,000 fans from 60 countries around the world. Until Huesca qualified for La Liga in 2018, Eibar was the smallest team ever to play in the top flight of Spanish football. Their stadium has the lowest capacity – just over 7,000 – of any ground in La Liga.
Founded in 1940, has never won a senior domestic Spanish trophy. In fact for much of its existence, they were playing lower league, regional football and, as recently as 1979, they were plying their trade in the fifth tier of the Spanish soccer pyramid. However, they worked their way up through the leagues, and promote to La Liga in 2014.
Since then, they have managed, despite their meagre financial resources, to consolidate their position in the top flight. Their 9th place finish last season was their highest ever league position.
They contests Basque derbies with clubs with Léganes, Alavés, and Athletic Bilbao. However, because of a lack of shared history, and the fact that Eibar have spent so much time playing in the lower leagues, these games lack some of the intensity of the other regional clashes.
