Derby County are a Championship club based in the East Midlands. Known as the Rams, they play their home matches at Pride Park. Their traditional kit is white shirts and black shorts.
Established in 1884, they were one of the original Founders of the Football League four years later. The club has spent most of its existence playing in the first and second tier of English football. Their greatest success in the 1971-1972 season when they won the League title for the first time in their history. Two years later, under his successor Dave McKay, they won it for a second time. In 1946 they won the FA Cup for the one and only time.
However, they went into decline thereafter and dropped in to the third division, before climbing back up again. The team last competed in the 2007 – 2008 season when they set a slew of unwanted records – the earliest team relegate, the lowest-ever points total, and equalling Loughborough’s feat of going through an entire season with just one win.
Their biggest rivals are Nottingham Forest located some 14 miles away, with whom they contest the East Midlands derby. There is also an ongoing enmity with Leeds United dating back to the 1970s when both were challengers for league titles.
In the eleven years that the team have been back in the Championship they have been in the play-offs three times. However, each time they have failed to make it further, which means Derby predictions for any season which are too ambitious should be tempered.
Former England and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is now manager, but he try to downplay expectations for the current season. Right now Derby betting tips probably have the club missing out on the play-offs this year. However, another year with him in charge and a good Derby tip for next season has them contenders again.
