Celta Vigo are a la Liga side based in the Galicia region of North-West Spain. Nicknamed The Célticos (The Celtics) they play their home games at the Abanca-Balaides stadium. Their traditional kit is sky blue shirts, with white shorts.
Founded in 1923, inspired by a sports writer who wanted to create a team capable of challenging the Basque sides.
The side have never won a senior domestic trophy. The closest they have come has been in the Copa del Rey where there have been beaten finalists on three occasions.
The best league finish was in 2003 when they finished 4th and qualified for the following season’s Champions League; they got through the Group Phase only to lose to Arsenal in the first knock-out round. In 2017 the progressed all the way to the semi-finals of the Europa League before going out to Manchester United.
Their main local rivals are Deportivo de la Coruňa with whom they contest the Galician derby.
Despite the club being regular members of La Liga between 1992 and 2004, there have been periods of decline, with the club dropping into Segunda B in 2007 and staying there for five seasons. Promoted though as runners up in 2012, they have managed to survive back at the top level, although it was only just in the case of their first season back. The last two seasons they have finished 13th, and Celta Vigo predictions for this season would have forecast a similar level of outcome for this campaign.
Results have been marginally worse and, technically, they are still in relegation danger. However, Celta Vigo betting tips suggest they will survive another season. And for 2019 – 20120 a Celta Vigo tip is to expect another bottom half finish.
