Aston Villa – commonly known as the Villa – are a Championship club based in Birmingham. They play their home matches at Villa Park and their traditional strip is claret and blue shirts, and white shorts.
Established in 1874 they were one of the original founders of the Football League in 1888. They have been one of the most successful sides in English history, winning seven leagues, and also seven FA Cups. They have also won the League Cup 5 times, and, in 1982, they won the European Cup, defeating Bayern Munich.
In 1896 – 97 they became the second club after Preston North End to complete the domestic league and FA Cup double.
Although traditionally regarded as one of the biggest clubs in England, Villa have suffered to live up to that status in recent seasons, and, after several years of battling relegation, the club was relegated to the Championship in 2016.
Their biggest local rivals are Birmingham City with whom they contest the Second City derby. They also have rivalries with the other major clubs in the area – West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City.
Most of the Aston Villa predictions focus on when, not if, the club will return to the Premier League. The side has the biggest budget, fan base and resources of any team in the league. This mean that Aston Villa betting tips include the team amongst the favourites for promotion. This season was no different but initial results were disappointing. They sacked Steve Bruce as manager and the replace was Dean Smith.
He has guided them into the play-offs and, with momentum behind them, many smart observers have an Aston Villa tip that sees them finally clinch that longed-for promotion at the end of the season.
