Alaves is a La Liga sand based in the Basque region of Spain. Nicknamed El Glorioso, they play their home games at the Mendizorratza Stadium in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Their traditional kit is blue and white striped shirts, and blue shorts.
Founded in 1921, apart from a brief spell later that decade, and again for an even shorter period in the 1950s, the team spent much of its earlier years of existence playing outside the top flight of Spanish football, and it was not until 1998 that they began to feature in La Liga on a regular basis.
In recent years, they have become something of a yo-yo club, falling back into the third tier in 2009 before climbing all the way back up again to the top league in 2016. They have never won a senior Spanish domestic trophy. Their highest league position was in the 1999-2000 season when they finished sixth. In 2017 they reached the Copa del Rey final, before eventually losing to Barcelona.
Arguably their greatest achievement came in 2001 when they reached the UEFA Cup Final. Loosing 4-5 to Liverpool.
Their main local rivals are Eibar, as well as the other Basque teams like Athletic Bilbao, Osasuna, and Real Sociedad.
The side are one of the smallest in the league in terms of resources and budget. Alaves betting tips are usually concentrated on whether the club can survive in the league or not. This year though performances have been relatively consistent, and, with a few games to go of the current campaign Alaves predictions for the 2018 – 2019 season are for a finish in the top half of the table.
And for 2019-2020, an Alaves tip is that the club will be aiming for more of the same.
