Barcelona is keen to extend a one-year contract to Chilean Arturo Vidal who joined the club eight months ago from Bayern Munich after a shocking £27million move. Vidal had signed a three-year deal with the Catalans, but now the club intends to keep the midfielder for another year that stretches until 2022.
The 31-year-old midfielder has been an indispensable member of the squad and has proceeded to make 45 appearances this season and his debut matches respectively scoring two goals and five assists too.
Barca’s coach, Ernesto Valverde is reported to be impressed by Vidal’s efforts to give his best in the field as well as for his integrity which immensely motivates the rest of the squad. The midfielder has proven himself to be one of the Spaniard’s most valuable team member and the Catalans do not want to lose the Chilean.
Vidal has been rotating with Arthur and has been through a difficult start to the season in Barcelona during which he hardly gets consistent game time. And now the Chilean midfielder is reportedly claimed to be happy with his new role.
Vidal may face limited game time next summer with the appearance of midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who is expected to join the club from Ajax. Predictions have been going on upon whether the Chilean midfielder may be moved on during the next transfer market.
The Sport, UK predictions reported that Clubs such as Inter are interested in buying Vidal while the Chinese have also listed their interests, but Barcelona has no intention of moving the Chilean midfielder on.
