Wolverhampton Wanderers – commonly just known as Wolves – are a Premier League side based in the West Midlands, who play their home matches at Molineux. Their traditional kit consists of old gold shorts and black shorts. Founded in 1877, they were one of the 12 original founders of the Football League in 1888.
Their golden era, in 1950s, when they won the League three times, and were runners-up on three occasions. During this era they became one of the first clubs in Britain to install floodlights. They have won the FA Cup on four occasions, and the League Cup twice. Their win in the 1980 Final was their last major English trophy win.
In recent years they have fluctuated up and down the leagues – dropping into League 1 for a season, then fighting their way back to the Championship, from which they were promoted as Champions last season.
Wolves main rivals are their Black Country neighbours West Bromwich Albion. They also have rivalries with other prominent West Midlands teams Aston Villa and Birmingham City.
Unlike many promoted teams, Wolves have enjoyed a good first season back in the Premier League. Now Wolves betting tips focus more around whether they can secure European football at the end of the season. They are also in the semi-final of the FA Cup, and many Wolves predictions have the team down to reach their first final since 1960.
Unlike many teams, Wolves have wealthy Chinese owners and have a link with super-agent Jorge Mendes. This enables them to sign players of proven international calibre and quality, especially from Portugal. Not all the clubs in the Premier League think this is ethical, but a Wolves tip for the summer is to expect more high profile names to arrive at Molineux.
