West Ham – known as the Hammers – are a Premiership side based in the east of London. They play their home matches at the London Stadium. They build this stadium to house the 2012 Olympics and then converted.
The team has one of the best-known anthems of all sides in England – “I am forever blowing bubbles.”
Founded in 1895, West Ham joined the Football League immediately after the First World War. They spend most of their existence in the second division. Their period of greatest success came in 1960s, when they won the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup. Their last major triumph was the 1980 FA Cup which they won as a second division side.
In recent years, the club has been famous for its youth development scheme which has seen players like Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick all emerge from their academy. A good West Ham tip is always to watch their youth sides to try and see who might be the next star to emerge.
West Ham biggest rivals include Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. However, their fiercest rivalry is with Millwall, due to geographical proximity. Fixtures between the two sides over the years have been marred by spectator violence on a number of occasions.
In terms of West Ham betting tips, they typically are a mid-table side, and are unlikely taking part in the relegation struggle. Where they do have ambitions though is to try and grab one of the Europa League places that are available. It will not happen this season, but a possible West Ham prediction for next season might have them as contenders.
