SC Freiburg are a Bundesliga side based in the Black Forest area of Germany. They play their home games at the Schwartzwald Stadion – the first solar powered stadium in Germany – and their traditional kit is red shirts and black shorts.
Founded in 1904,Freiburg are one of the smallest clubs in the Bundesliga, and spent the earlier years of their existence in lower regional leagues. It was not until 1978 that they played in Bundesliga 2 for the first time. Fifteen years before they ascended to the elite level of German football.
Since then they have acquired a reputation as a yo-yo club, with a number of relegations back to the second divisions followed by promotions, frequently at the first time of asking, back to the Bundesliga. The schizophrenic nature of their form was captured by the fan chant “we go down, we go up, we go into the UEFA Cup”.
The club has never won a senior domestic German trophy; Freiburg betting tips has them as outsiders when it comes to who will be in contention for the major honours.
Meanwhile Volker Finke, boss of the side between 1991-2007 holds the record as the longest serving manager in German football.
The club’s most recent relegation came in 2015 but they promote straight back again. In the last two campaigns have finished 7th and 15th. For this season they are in the lower reaches of the table but safe. One Freiburg prediction for the end of the campaign is a finish in 13th.
An early Freiburg tip for the next season 2019-20 is to regard them as potential relegation candidates.
