Real Betis are a La Liga side based in the Andalusia region of Southern Spain. Nicknamed Los Verdiblancos (The Green and Whites), they play their home games at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Their traditional kit is green and white striped shirts, and green shorts. The club takes its name from the Latin name for the Guadalquivir river which runs through the city of Seville.
The club’s motto is ¡Viva el Betis aunque pierda! , which refers to the team’s turbulent history, with numerous relegations and then promotions again.
Founded in 1907 as an offshoot of city rivals Sevilla after an internal dispute, Betis won the league title in 1935, and also lifted the Copa del Rey in 1977 and 2005. The club has played in all the European competitions, but did not achieve success in any of them.
In recent years, the club has enjoyed relative tranquillity in terms of league form. Relegated in 2009 they spent two seasons back in Segunda B, before promote back to La Liga again two years later. There was a brief interlude in the second division in the 2014 – 2015 season, but they were promoted back as champions the following season.
Their main rivalry is with local side Sevilla, with whom they contest the Sevilla derby. Matches in recent years have seen occasional incidents of fan violence in and around the stadium.
Real Betis predictions for the current campaign were hoping for another good season, but although there are still chances of finishing 8th, Real Betis betting tips have them missing out on European football next season.
But fans might be happy with that. Any Real Betis tips that haven’t included in the relegation scrap might be a relief for their long suffering supporters.
