Queen’s Park Rangers (QPR) are a Championship club based in the Shepherd’s Bush area of London. Nicknamed the Hoops, they play their home games at Loftus Road. Their traditional kit is blue and white hooped shirts and white shorts.
Founded in 1886, they first entered the Football League in 1920. They spent all of their early years in the bottom tier of the league, and did not win their first promotion until 1950. They first reached the First Division in 1968, but achieved their greatest period of success in the 1970s, when they remained in the top echelon for six years, and achieved their highest ever league finish of second. Since then they have moved back and forth between the top two divisions, last playing in the Premier League in 2016.
They won their only senior English trophy in 1967, when they beat West Bromwich Albion. They also reached the FA Cup Final in 1982 but lost to Tottenham.
Their main rivals are other clubs in the West London area – Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford.
The club has been in trouble financially since it spent heavily during its last stint in the Premier League. They have recently sacked manager Steve McClaren, so many current QPR betting tips are focused on who will substitute him.
The next manager, is going to have a tough job on their hands, with suggestions that the club are looking to cut the budget, already one of the smallest in the Championship even further. They have enough points this season; QPR predictions for the end of this season suggest they will finish clear of the relegation zone.
Next season may well be different. QPR tips for the 2019 – 2020 season will have them down as one of the early relegation favourites.
