Founded originally in 1880, Manchester City spent much of their existence in the shadow of their local rivals Manchester United. They won their first trophy, FA Cup in 1904, and lifted the League title for the first time in 1937. However, in the late 1960s the club enjoyed its first hey-day under the management of Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison.
