Fulham are a West London team currently playing in the Premier League although, after just one season in the elite division, they are ready for an immediate return to the Championship. Also known as the Cottagers after their stadium, Craven Cottage, which is found on the banks of the River Thames.
Founded in 1879, the club did not attain league status until 1907, and played mainly in the lower divisions in the period before the Second World War, before gaining promotion to the First Division for the first time in 1949. They lost that status three years later, and have since moved up and down the leagues.
They were a Premiership team between 2001-2014, regaining their place at the top level via play-off win on last season.
Their main rivals are their West London neighbours Chelsea. They also enjoy secondary rivalries with Queens Park Rangers, and Gillingham, despite the two clubs being nearly 40 miles apart and playing mainly in different divisions.
Fulham betting tips for the current season have them down as relegation candidates, and, that turned out to be accurate. They spent over £100 million on new players last summer, and much of that seems to have been wasted.
Thoughts should now turn to next season and Fulham predictions for when they get back to the Championship. Much will depend on their ability to keep hold of players like Aleksandar Mitrović who may not want to play in a lower division. Also whether the club’s owners decide to keep their expensive acquisitions in the hope that they will come good.
One Fulham tip is that they will not be able to keep hold of their young winger Ryan Sessegnon.
