Espanyol is a La Liga side based in the city of Barcelona. Nicknamed The Periquitos (The Budgerigars) they play their home games at the RCDE Stadium. Their traditional kit is blue and white striped shorts, and blue shorts.
Founded in 1900, the club has never won the league title, having the dubious record of having competed for the highest number of seasons in La Liga without actually winning it..
However, it has won the Copa del Rey four times, with the most recent triumph coming in 2006. They also reached the UEFA Cup final on two occasions in 1988 and 2007, on both occasions lose on penalties. First one to Bayer Leverkusen of Germany, and then to fellow La Liga side Sevilla.
Their main rivalry is with city neighbours Barcelona. This is based not just on geographical proximity, but also because of perceived political affiliations. Since the return of democracy and regional autonomy to Spain, the bias is now seen the other way – the Catalan government are regarded as favouring Barcelona to the detriment of Espanyol.
A regular member of the top flight, Espanyol predictions for a season do not usually feature the side as either contenders for the title, or relegation candidates. This campaign is no different, with a few games of the season leftm they are in a clutch of clubs which could finish anywhere from 8th to 13th. Espanyol betting tips then suggest a mid-table final position.
And that is likely to be the limit of the club’s ambitions for the next season as well. An Espanyol tip that has them finishing much higher is likely to be a great choice.
