Cardiff City are a Premier League team based in Cardiff, south Wales. They are currently the only non-English side playing in the Premier League.
Founded in 1899, Cardiff joined the Football League in 1920, and seven years later became the first, and, to date, only non-English side to win the FA Cup when they beat Arsenal in the final at Wembley.
In 2013 the club played in the Premier League for the first time, but they lasted only a single season. In 2016 though they appointed Neil Warnock as manager and the Englishman led them back to the Premier League.
Their biggest rivals are fellow South Wales side Swansea City, and local economic and political issues have made local derby matches often turn to violence in recent years.
Cardiff City have been much in the news in 2019 following their decision to sign the Argentine striker Emiliano Sala. En route to join this new side, the small plane that Sala was travelling in went down and crashed in the English channel, and Sala and the pilot died. The circumstances of the crash and the transfer of the player have become matters of dispute, and still under investigation.
Cardiff City betting tips for this season would have them listed as favourites for relegation. They have been at the wrong end of the table all season. However, there are two worse teams than them in the shape of Fulham and Huddersfield; it is a possible that a Cardiff City prediction which still has them escaping at the end of the season might yet prove right.
However, one Cardiff City tip to follow. Do not expect them to score a lot of goals. That is a problem the unfortunate Sala was meant to help solve.
