Birmingham City are a Championship team who play in the second tier of English football. Their home ground is St. Andrew’s and their traditional kit is blue shirts and white shorts. Their fans are the Bluenoses.
Founded in 1875, they were the first champions of the English Second Division. They have never won the league, and lose twice the FA Cup Final. However, they have won the League Cup twice, most recently in 2011 when they beat Arsenal at Wembley.
The club also holds the distinction of being the first English club to reach a European Final; they reached the final of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960 and 1961, finishing runners-up on both occasions.
Their main rivalry is with Birmingham neighbours Aston Villa with whom they contest the Second City derby. The ugly side of what can be a hotly contested affair came earlier this season when a Birmingham City fan attacked Villa player Jack Grealish during a match between the two sides.
Since relegate from the Premier League in 20111, they have spent the past eight years in the Championship. A reasonable Birmingham prediction for this season is that they would continue to enjoy that status. They were performing slightly above expectations until the sanction of nine point deduction for breaching Football League rules on profitability and sustainability. That plunged them towards the foot of the table with some Birmingham betting tips revised to include them in the list of possible relegation candidates.
However, they have recover and picked up enough points to suggest that they will be safe for another season. Now a valid Birmingham tip is that they will be playing in the Championship again next campaign and ready to compete for promotion with their financial problems behind them.
