Mustafi among several Arsenal players to be moved on in the summer clear-out as Emery plans to add to his £45m budget

  • Shkodran Mustafi is among Arsenal players to be put up for sale in the summer clear-out.
  • Unai Emery is looking to add more to his £45million with players’ deals in the summer.
  • High-earners Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are among the Gunners to be put up for sale.
  • Arsenal will also agree to offers for Carl Jenkinson and Mohamed Elneny.
  • According to the Daily Mail, UK, Unai Emery is all set to put about seven players up for sale in the summer clear out. Arsenal’s boss, Emery, with a budget of only £45million, is concerned about the current state of his squad.

The Spaniard, however, has been told that he can reinvest a significant amount of money raised through players’ sales.

UK predictions on Arsenal’s big summer clearouts proved right as Emery is set to transfer some players from his squad including the defender Shkodran Mustafi during the summer deals. Mustafi joined Arsenal in 2016 from Valencia for £35m and his poor performance on Sunday where Arsenal lost to Crystal Palace (3-2) bolstered the idea that the German should be moved on.

Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also be in the shop window in the summer sale. Mesut Ozil earns about £350,000 and Henrikh Mkhitaryan £180,000 per week respectively, and the pressure for wages reduction is on for the duo if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The Gunners will also listen to offers for Mohamed Elneny and Carl Jenkinson, while David Ospina and Calum Chambers are more likely to be transferred soon as they return from their loan seasons at Fulham and Naples.

Aaron Ramsey’s departure from Arsenal ahead of the next season will slash the squad’s weekly wages. Petr Cech will retire towards the end of the current season, and Danny Welbeck, with a weekly salary of about £80,000, will also leave this summer following a contract expiry.

Arsenal is now in the fifth place in the English Premier League, just one point behind Chelsea.
